Pain Control

Pain protects and warns us of danger or further damage. When you touch a hot stove with your finger, the pain system immediately causes you to withdraw your hand, preventing further burns. Without this system, we wouldn’t survive.

This can be called “useful” pain because it is brief but warning. However, chronic pain is of a completely different nature. Chronic pain is almost constantly present, and it is often said that you have to learn to live with it. However, chronic pain can greatly hinder your life.

Pain Management and Pain Control with Hypnosis and HypnotherapyChronic pain is persistent pain that affects your well-being, functioning, and quality of life. It can result from injury or infection, but there may also be another cause of the pain.

Causes of Chronic Pain
Chronic pain can result from injury, surgery where a nerve is damaged, spinal conditions such as disc degeneration, or other causes.

Pain Management and Pain Control with Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy

When it comes to reducing or eliminating pain, hypnosis or hypnotherapy is rarely considered, even though these techniques are ideally suited for this purpose. Through the application of hypnosis, the sensation (perception) of pain is experienced differently. Pain is transmitted through pain nerves in the spinal cord. The pain signals pass through the so-called dorsal horn on the back side of the spinal cord. Research shows that this pain gate can be influenced by psychological factors. Factors such as rest, relaxation, and positive outlooks close the gate and reduce the experience of pain. Tension, stress, and anxiety, on the other hand, make pain feel more intense.

Hypnosis and hypnotherapy are extremely effective in using suggestions to close the pain gate, thereby greatly reducing or even eliminating pain. Sometimes, a few sessions are required, during which negative influences are also addressed.

How Does Hypnosis Work for Pain Management?

During a hypnosis session, the person’s focus is shifted from the pain to a deep state of relaxation and concentration. In this relaxed state, positive suggestions are given aimed at reducing or controlling the pain. Through repeated exposure to these suggestions during hypnotherapy, changes can occur in the perception and response to pain.

IMPORTANT:
It is very important to know that you need a medical certificate
from your GP to undergo pain control treatment.
A hypnotherapist is not a doctor, so in the case of chronic pain or any other type of pain-related problem, you should consult your doctor or medical specialist first to ensure that your pain problem does not require immediate medical attention.

Depending on the severity and any other causes, some may need more sessions than others. Therefore, this treatment is priced per session at €75.
